Care for children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and vulnerable populations is a right and a shared responsibility. It is essential for families, societies, and economies to function and thrive. Yet, globally and in the Asia-Pacific region, women bear a disproportionate burden of unpaid care work. This inequality hinders women’s full participation in the labor market, contributes to economic insecurity, and perpetuates gender disparities.

UN Women is the United Nations organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. As a global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. With a presence in 22 countries in the Asia and the Pacific region, the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific has the potential to reach 60% of the global population.

THE TRANSFORMCARE INVESTMENT INITIATIVE ASIA-PACIFIC (TCII-AP) will be able to leverage numerous existing networks, commitments, examples and tools created across the region in partnership with governments, UN agencies and other partners. The below examples provide an indication of the type of activities, tools and commitments that can be implemented across the three investment areas.
