The Policy Brief draws from GEDSI Analysis conducted in Lumbini, Sudurpashchim and Karnali Provinces to identify opportunities for municipal governments and development partners to strengthen disaster risk reduction efforts and urban resilience by more comprehensively meeting the needs of women and excluded groups.

These findings underscore the urgent need for prioritizing safety improvements. For high-budget items, a phased implementation approach is recommended to ensure efficient resource utilization.

The audit was conducted to understand specific safety concerns faced by women and girls, particularly in disaster preparedness and response, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the generous funding from KOICA under UN-KOICA Joint Project Together for Equality: preventing and responding to gender-based violence, UN Women and Rede Feto has been collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works since August 2022 and conducted two Women Safety Audit Walks at the Ministry of Public Works Office and the second is at Largo Lecidere Park.
