A Call for Submissions for Creative Youth Projects: Youth Voices for Generation Equality

UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, The Embassy of France in Thailand, and the Embassy of Mexico in Thailand extend an open invitation to all young people  in Thailand, between 15 and 24 years, to submit creative and artistic projects  in line with the principles of Generation Equality, a global campaign and fora that demands equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, an end to sexual harassment and all forms of violence against women and girls, health-care services that respond to their needs, and equal participation in political life and decision-making.

Submitted works will be reviewed by an expert jury and will be invited to be exhibited in an online showcase that will be published and promoted among our extensive networks. The showcase will be the closing event of a series of events co-hosted by the Embassy of France in Thailand, the Embassy of Mexico in Thailand, and UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Thailand, in the context of the Generation Equality Forum which started in Mexico City on 29 to 31 March and will culminate in Paris from 30 June to 2 July 2021.

The Generation Equality Forum is the first major international event in favor of women’s rights since the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action since 1995. With Heads of State and Governments attending it will adopt a Global Acceleration Plan for Gender Equality, made up of global five-year-term commitments drafted by six Actions Coalitions to catalyze collective action; spark global and local conversations among generations; drive increased public and private investment; and deliver concrete progress on gender equality across generations for girls and women.

Submission Criteria

Anyone between the ages of 15 and 24 years old in Thailand is eligible to submit a creative or artistic project that addresses at least one of the six Action Coalitions’ topics of the Generation Equality Forum:

  • Gender-Based Violence: Recognizing that gender-based violence affects women and girls in all their diversity, as any act likely to result in physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.
  • Economic Justice and Rights: This theme encompasses the full spectrum of paid and unpaid labor and women’s access to and control over productive resources and economic opportunities, and addresses macro and microeconomic factors that reinforce gender inequalities, and how women and girls often lack the rights and access to economic opportunities.
  • Bodily Autonomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Women, adolescents and girls in all their diversity should access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and make autonomous decisions about their bodies free from coercion, violence, and discrimination. They should freely access comprehensive SRHR information, education and services.
  • Feminist Action for Climate Justice: Recognizing that the drive for environmental sustainability is inextricably linked with social justice. Climate justice centralizes the needs of people who are the most marginalized: those who rely on natural resources to ensure their livelihoods, take care of their families, and are most impacted by environmental degradation and natural disasters.
  • Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality: This refers to how women and girls access, use, lead and design digital tools, and addresses the gender digital divide, online gender-based violence and discrimination and the underrepresentation of women in innovation. This Action Coalition explores how technology and innovation can help advance gender equality and create new solutions responding to women and girls needs in all their diversity.
  • Feminist Movements and Leadership: This involves increasing participation, leadership and decision-making power of girl leaders, and of women and feminist leaders, including those who are trans, intersex, non-binary, through efforts to advance gender parity in all aspects of public and economic decision making, as well as  promoting and expanding feminist, gender transformative, and inclusive laws and policies.

Submission Deadline

The submission of works window will open on 3 June and close on 16 June, 2021.

Submission Categories

Performing Arts

Submissions inclusive of, and not limited to music performance, singing, dancing, acting, circus, and multidisciplinary acts.

Submissions are not to exceed more than 5 minutes in length.

Visual Arts

Any form of visual artistic expression, comprehensive of, and not limited to paint, sculpture, ceramics, printing, textile, fashion design, graphic art, digital art, video, documentary, short film, and beyond.

Submissions concerned are not to exceed more than 5 minutes in length.

Rhetorical Expressions

We encourage any medium of verbal expression including, but not limited to speeches, monologues, spoken-word performance, prose, and poetry declamation.

Submissions are not to exceed more than 5 minutes in length.

Online Showcase

A Jury, composed of artists, gender activists and the organizing institutions, will review the submitted works, and shortlist up to three nominees from each submission category. All nominees will have the opportunity to present their project to an online audience in Thailand and beyond.

Selected works will be showcased and promoted across UN Women Asia and the Pacific’s networks and may be selected for further exhibition to Youth Activists during UN Women’s Youth Activism Accelerator on 13- 15 July, 2021. During the showcase, additional prizes will be announced.

If COVID-19 conditions allow it, short-listed nominees may be invited to record their performance in person with a professional crew at the Alliance Française Bangkok on Thursday, 24 June, 2021. For this matter, shortlisted participants are expected to have the possibility to get to the venue by their own means on the said date (24 June), if conditions allow.

ประชุมยุคสมัยแห่งความเท่าเทียม (Generation Equality Forum) เป็นงานนานาชาติขนาดใหญ่ ครั้งแรกที่สนับสนุนสิทธิสตรี ตั้งแต่การประชุมระดับโลกว่าด้วยเรื่องสตรี ครั้งที่ 4 (The Fourth World Conference on Women) และการนำปฏิญญาปักกิ่งและแผนปฏิบัติการ ปี 1995 (Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 1995) โดยมีประมุขแห่งรัฐและรัฐบาลเข้าร่วมในการที่จะใช้แผนเร่งรัด ระดับโลกเพื่อความเสมอภาคทางเพศ (Global Acceleration Plan for Gender Equality) ซึ่งประกอบ ด้วยคำมั่นสัญญาระยะห้าปีทั่วโลก ซึ่งร่างโดยกลุ่มแนวร่วมปฏิบัติการหกกลุ่มเพื่อกระตุ้นการ ดำเนินการร่วมกัน; จุดประกายการสนทนาระดับโลกและระดับท้องถิ่นระหว่างรุ่น; ขับเคลื่อนการลงทุน ทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชนที่เพิ่มขึ้น และส่งมอบความก้าวหน้าที่เป็นรูปธรรมเกี่ยวกับความเสมอภาค ทางเพศจากรุ่นสู่รุ่นสำหรับเด็กผู้หญิงและสตรี

เกณฑ์การแข่งขัน

ใครก็ตามที่มีอายุระหว่าง 15-24 ปี และอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศไทยมีสิทธิ์ส่งผลงานสร้างสรรค์หรือศิลปะ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับหนึ่งในหกหัวข้อของแนวร่วมปฏิบัตการ (Action Coalitions) ของการประชุมยุคสมัยแห่ง ความเท่าเทียม (Generation Equality Forum)

  • ความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศ: ตระหนักว่าความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศส่งผลกระทบต่อสตรีและ เด็กผู้หญิงในความหลากหลายทั้งหมด เนื่องจากการกระทำใดๆที่ส่งผลให้เกิดอันตรายต่อร่างกาย เพศ จิตใจหรือความเจ็บปวดทุกข์ทรมานต่อสตรี รวมถึงการคุกคามของการกระทำดังกล่าว การบีบบังคับ หรือ การลิดรอนเสรีภาพโดยพลการ ไม่ว่าจะเกิดขึ้นในที่สาธารณะหรือในชีวิตส่วนตัว

ทัศนศิลป์

ทุกรูปแบบของการแสดงออกทางทัศนศิลป์ ไม่ได้จำกัดแค่การระบายสี ประติมากรรม เซรามิก การพิมพ์ สิ่งทอ การออกแบบแฟชั่น กราฟิกอาร์ต ดิจิทัลอาร์ต วิดีโอ สารคดี ภาพยนตร์สั้น และอื่นๆนอกเหนือ จากนี้

การแสดงออกทางวาทศิลป์

เราสนับสนุนสื่อกลางทุกรูปแบบในการแสดงออกทางวาจา ไม่ได้จำกัดแค่เพียงการพูดสุนทรพจน์ บทพูดเดียว การแสดงคำพูด ร้อยแก้ว และการอ่านบทกวี

ผลงานที่จะนำเสนอต้องมีความยาวไม่เกิน 5 นาที

การจัดแสดงออนไลน์

คณะกรรมการ ประกอบด้วยศิลปิน นักเคลือ่นไหวเรื่องเพศและองค์กรผู้จัดงาน จะพิจารณาผลงานที่ส่งเข้ามาและจะคัดเลือกผู้ที่ได้รับการเสนอชื่อสูงสุด 3 คนในการแข่งขันแต่ละ ประเภท ผู้ที่ได้รับการเสนอชื่อทั้งหมดจะได้มีโอกาสนำเสนอผลงานของตนเองต่อหน้าผู้ชมในประเทศ ไทยและอาจจะที่อื่นๆในรูปแบบออนไลน์

ผลงานที่ได้รับคัดเลือกจะถูกจัดแสดงและโปรโมททั่วทั้งเครือข่ายขององค์การเพื่อสตรีแห่งสหประชาชาติ ภูมิภาคเอเชียและแปซิฟิก และอาจจะได้รับเลือกให้จัดแสดงใน Youth Activists ระหว่างงาน UN Women's Youth Activism Accelerator ในวันที่ 13-15 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2564

ถ้าหากเงื่อนไขมาตรการควบคุมโควิด-19 ผ่อนผันลง ผู้ที่ได้รับการเสนอชื่อทั้งหมดอาจจะได้รับเชิญให้ไปบันทึกการแสดงด้วยตัวเองกับทีมงานของสมาคมฝรั่งเศส กรุงเทพ ในวันที่ 24 มิถุนายน 2564 ทั้งนี้ ผู้ที่ได้รับคัดเลือกคาดว่าจะสามารถเดินทางไปยัง สมาคมฝรั่งเศส กรุงเทพ ด้วยตนเองในวันดังกล่าว (24 มิถุนายน) หากเงื่อนไขผ่อนผันลง
