Event description

Virtual World Cafe: Online Violence against women in Asia: a multicountry study launch

From July to December 2019, UN Women conducted research on the prevalence of information communication technology (digital and online) related violence against women and girls (ICT VAWG) in five Asian countries: India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. The research focused on the perceptions of civil society organizations (CSOs) working with women and gender issues have on this phenomenon in their countries. The research looked at the many manifestations of ICT VAWG and the measures undertaken against it by the government and ICT intermediaries. The research study was funded by the generous support of the Republic of Korea as a part of the Stepping Up initiative. The event to present the report will be conducted online as a virtual world cafe, offering a relaxed style of discussion on the report findings and recommendations.
