Event description

The pre-APAN panel discussion jointly organized by the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will constitute sharing practical solutions and exploring partnership opportunities for advancing feminist action for climate justice in the Asia-Pacific region. It will be built around the forum’s thematic area of focus “resilience of communities” and discusses gender-responsive policy and programming as an enabler to transformative adaptation that leaves no one behind.

The session will provide a platform to learn, share and catalyze collective commitments for the Feminist Action for Climate Justice (FACJ) Action Coalition of the Generation Equality Forum (GEF). GEF is a multi-stakeholder initiative to catalyze partners, increase investments and results in gender equality, accelerate progress towards achieving the objectives of the Beijing Platform for Action and the SDGs, as well as sustain and expand a movement of support for gender equality with civil society and youth leadership and activism at its heart.

35-40 adaptation practitioners and policymakers attending the 8th APAN Forum and other adaptation events under the wider umbrella of KGAW 2023 are expected to join this pre-forum event in person.
