In 2023, the UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality organized a conference for the private sector, which focused on the theme of “Breaking Gender Barriers for a Better Future in Key Industries." The Dialogue highlighted the imperative of increasing women’s participation and representation in key industries such as infrastructure, finance, and technology, which play a significant role in driving a country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and economic growth potential.

This year’s conference will carry on the focus on key industries and further expand on ‘how’ we can create an enabling workplace whereby talented women can join, thrive, and move up, maximizing their potentials and contributions in the companies and national economies. While "best practices" are everywhere, the real challenge lies in their effective implementation and long-term sustainability. Hence, this year’s Dialogue will focus on presenting concrete and tangible approaches and policies for attracting and retaining talent, particularly in industries where women are under-represented. To this end, the Conference will have a mixture of panel discussions, thought-provoking presentations, as well as thematic workshops for more in-depth dialogue with leading experts in the field.
