Beiing, China — UN Women China and its prominent media partner Netease are award-ing leading women in the media who have given notable contributions to the fastest grow-ing industries in the country, while globally the pain and anger of more than a million peo-ple who recently tweeted #MeToo have crowded social media with personal stories of sex-ual harassment or assault. After Weinstein, 40 men in the media industry have been ac-cused of sexual misconduct.

Fifteen awards are given out to various notable celebrities, including Ms. Gong Linna, Ms. Wu Mochou, Ms. Xu Anhua, Ms. Hui Ruoqi, and Ms. Xi Mengyao amongst other women in various categories, such as the "Female Role Model Award," the "Female Breakthrough Award" and other awards. As for male celebrities, Mr. Wu Zun, Mr. Teng Ger, and Mr. Guo Ke receive the "Male Role Model Award."

The "Women's Media Award" began in 2011. The awards focus on female role models in every field in China. The theme of this year's "Women's Media Award", "Courage to Fight for Gender Equality", pays tribute to the brave women who are actively pushing for gender equality in all fields.

Mr. Ma Lei Jun, senior project officer of UN Women, Professor Liu Bohong, China Women's University, Ms. Zhang Yue, CCTV host, Professor Yin Hong, Tsinghua University, Ms. Cai Yiping, famous female scholar, Mr. Geng Le, the founder of Light Blue Net and Ms. Dou Jing, Editor-in-Chief of Netease Women screened an impressive list of candidates to select the final winners.

After careful consideration, the 15 awards are presented to Gong Linna, a singer, founder of new Chinese art music; Hui Ruoqi, Olympic champion from the Chinese women's volleyball team; Lan Tian, prototype of the film "Seventy-seven Days"; Yan Jinxiu, a world-class tunnel expert; Xu Anhua, a famous female film director; He Qiaonv, first Chinese female philan-thropist; Wang Jinchu, village official; Fan Yu Su, female worker writer; and Han Liping, an aerospace engineer.

Ms. Xi Mengyao, an international supermodel, won the annual "Female Breakthrough Award" due to her achievements in the fashion, film and television industry in 2017. Ms. Wu Mochou, on the other hand, stood out amongst 90s singers and won the "Courage to Fight" Award.

Women and men alike should work together to achieve gender equality. The "Male Model of the Year" awards are presented to Mr. Guo Ke, the director of documentary "Twenty-Two" and the Artist and Singer, Mr. Teng Ger. Mr. Wu Zun, a celebrity dad, won the "Male Achievement of the Year" Award due to his great balance between career and family.

The China Country Programme Manager of UN Women, Ms. Julie Broussard and the Editor in Chief of Netease Media, Tian Hua, give opening speeches. Julie says, "The Women's Me-dia Award is to add voice of the media to efforts to overcome gender inequality. Media's positive portrayals of women are promoting investments with great returns to the whole society."

Mr. Ed Kronenburg, Dutch Ambassador to China, Ms. Alejandro Gamboa Castilla, Ambassa-dor of the Sweden Embassy, Ms. Marielza Oliveira, UNESCO Chief Representative, Chinese envoys, as well as Ms. Guo Jianmei, a well-known lawyer, Mr. Liu Zhenyun, a famous writer, Mr. Zhang Chengdong, advocate of HeforShe, present the awards.

新闻稿：联合国妇女署暨网易女人"2017 女性传媒大奖"揭晓

联合国妇女署与长期合作伙伴网易女人频道共同举办年度女性传媒大奖，以表彰在日益发展的媒体行业中有影响力的女性公众人物，这与全球社交媒体持续发酵的#MeToo运动遥相呼应，超过百万多名网友在社交媒体上勇敢说出发生在自己身上的性侵害/性骚扰经历。在好莱坞金牌制作人哈维·韦恩斯坦被多次实名指控性骚扰后，相继有40名男性媒体人被揭发有不当性行为或性骚扰行为。

2017年12月11日，由联合国妇女署与网易女人频道共同举办的年度公益颁奖盛典"2017女性传媒大奖"在京举办，现场颁出15个奖项，龚琳娜、吴莫愁、许鞍华、惠若琪、奚梦瑶等来自各行各业有成就的女性分获年度女性榜样等奖项。吴尊、腾格尔、郭柯获年度男性榜样等奖项。

女性传媒大奖自2011年创立起，已经走过了七年历程。女性传媒大奖聚焦中国各领域的女性榜样人物。今年的女性传媒大奖以"性别平等之勇于改变"为主题，致敬各领域内积极创新、不断前行的勇敢女性朋友们。

每位获奖者均是在社会各界广泛征集候选人后，经网友投票，并由联合国妇女署高级项目官员马雷军先生、中华女子学院刘伯红教授、央视著名主持人张越、清华大学尹鸿教授、著名女性学者蔡一平女士、淡蓝网创始人耿乐先生及网易女人频道主编窦静女士组成的权威评审团认真讨论研究后做出的最终评定。

现场颁出的15个奖项中，新艺术音乐歌唱家龚琳娜、中国女排奥运冠军惠若琪、电影《七十七天》女主角原型蓝天、世界级隧道专家严金秀、著名遗传学与生殖医学专家卢光琇、著名电影导演许鞍华、"中国女首善"何巧女、村官王金初、"网红"打工妹作家范雨素、航天特级技师韩利萍等10位女性获得"年度女性榜样"大奖。

"年度成长女性榜样奖"由2017年在时尚和影视方面均取得一定成绩的国际超模奚梦瑶获得，"年度勇于改变女性榜样奖"则由90后新势力歌手、在公益事业不断努力的吴莫愁摘得。

在追求性别平等的路上，女性和男性应携手并进，性别平等中男性的支持必不可少。"年度男性榜样"奖由纪录片《二十二》导演郭柯与集歌唱、影视和作曲的三栖艺术家腾格尔获得。事业和家庭完美兼顾的"超人气奶爸"吴尊获得"年度成就男性榜样奖"。

联合国妇女署国别主任汤竹丽与网易传媒副总编辑田华进行开场致辞。汤竹丽女士在致辞中特别强调，"举办女性传媒大奖的目的是推动媒体在促进性别平等的过程中发挥更重要的积极作用，媒体有力量来改变对男性和女性的刻板印象。媒体对于性别平等的正面倡导，对于整个社会公正、公平发展有着积极地回报和影响。"

荷兰驻华大使高文博先生、瑞典使馆大使林戴安女士、联合国教科文组织首席代表欧敏行女士、各国驻华使节、著名律师郭建梅女士、著名作家刘震云先生、联合国妇女署HeforShe倡导者张呈栋先生等社会各界代表共同出席活动并颁奖。
