Women Empower: An Economic Empowerment Dialogue Engaging Multiple Stakeholders on COVID-19 Challenges and Best Practices

A virtual event co-hosted by the Embassy of France in Thailand, the Embassy of Mexico in Thailand, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, and UN Women Regional Office of Asia and the Pacific.
On May 6, 2021, the Embassy of France in Thailand, the Embassy of Mexico in Thailand, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand and UN Women Regional Office of Asia and the Pacific, will hold an online webinar on Zoom and Facebook Live to discuss Women’s Economic Empowerment through the experiences of civil society, government agencies, and the private sector.
Through virtual presentations, the sharing of audio-visual content, and a multi-stakeholder panel discussion, the objective of the event is to facilitate the exchange of information, good practices and lessons learned to enhance knowledge of participatory gender-responsive approaches to the design, implementation, and monitoring of women’s economic empowerment measures.
The webinar is part of a series of events organized in the framework of the Generation Equality Forum (GEF), a civil society–centred, global gathering convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the governments of France and Mexico. The GEF was launched in Mexico City between 27 and 30 March 2021 and will conclude in Paris from 30 June to 2 July 2021 to foster a global public conversation for urgent action and accountability for gender equality.
The online dialogue will be moderated by Siriporn Rathie, Country Programme Manager of WeEmpower Asia at UN Women, who will be joined by Thais Malave, Chief Operations Officer of the Mexican Institute of Family and Population Research, Yo Quiero Yo Puedo; Magali du Parc, Executive Director of Baan Dek Foundation; Nunnaree Luangmoi, Executive Director of Center For Girls Foundation; Sharon Fisher, President of Soroptimist International; and Arrada Mahamitra, Secretariat of ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network and Assistant President for Special Affairs at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
H. E. Bernardo Cordova, Ambassador of Mexico to Thailand, will open the event. Closing remarks will be provided by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Affairs (MSDHS) and Deputy Regional Director, a.i, Sarah Knibbs for UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
Following the webinar, “Watch Empowerment”, an audio-visual open digital platform will showcase thematically relevant content from May 6 to May 9. The platform will host films, documentaries, short films, and videos about women’s economic empowerment initiatives.
