No Place for Violence in Timor-Leste (Lighting President and government’s palace, and Jesus Crist Statue)

The President and Government Place are the two most iconic public institutions. The Jesus Crist statue in Dili is the world's second biggest Jesus Crist Statue and the most iconic image of Timor-Leste. Lighting up these three places was to bring public awareness about Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) and encourage the government, church community, and public to take action to EVAW.
This event was celebrated and hosted jointly between UN Women and the President of the Republic at the Presidential Palace, engaging high-level participation from the President, some ministers, the Secretary of State, members of parliament, head of donor partners, and general directors. With the high-level involvement, the event aimed at influencing government and donors' decisions for more investment and commitment toward GEWE's works.
