Event description

Time: 13:30 - 20:00 (GMT+9)

This Forum will feature inspiring talks by champions of women's empowerment in peacekeeping, as well as shared experiences from multi-generational women military officers who have served in UN peacekeeping operations. The speakers will candidly discuss their challenges and successes in advancing women's contributions to peacekeeping, offering valuable insights from their on-the-ground experiences and lessons learned. They will shed light on how the UN system, diplomatic channels, and military establishments can collaboratively enhance efforts to promote women's representation, leadership, and well-being in peacekeeping operations.

Moreover, the speakers will underscore the pivotal role of women in providing essential services to local populations and supporting the most vulnerable during crisis settings. To foster inter-generational knowledge exchange and networking, the Forum will welcome mid-career women military officers from both the Korean military force and countries participating in the Women's Military Peace Operations Course (WMPOC) in Korea, scheduled between 4-22 September. These officers will share their unique experiences and provide recommendations for cultivating an enabling environment that encourages greater involvement of women in UN peacekeeping.

The event will also include a dedicated dialogue session to encourage audience participation and foster Q&A interactions, including valuable insights from Korean military officers. Following the sessions, a dinner reception will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and mentoring purposes, fostering valuable connections among participants.

Notably, the UN Women Centre of Excellence will be filming these inspiring talks for public outreach purposes, ensuring that the valuable messages and experiences shared during the Forum reach a wider audience and continue to inspire positive change in the field of peacekeeping.
