Women residing in Timor-Leste’s rural areas often carry the burden of childcare, nourishing their families, assisting with food production, and working in micro-businesses to support their family financially. On International Rural Women’s Day 2015, eleven government bodies from Timor-Leste signed the Declaration of Maubise to acknowledge this work, promising to provide more services and support for women living in rural areas.
