Walking to end gender-based violence in Bhutan

Thimphu, Bhutan – More than 100 people including students, teachers, volunteers, civil servants, representatives from the private sector and civil society organisations, as well as survivors of violence – wore orange caps to participate in a 13-kilometre walk from the historic temple of Goddess Tara to the clock tower at Thimphu’s city centre to mark International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November 2015. The walk was flagged off by Her Royal Highness, Ashi Kezang Choden Wangchuck.
The event was organized by the National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC) of Bhutan in collaboration with UN Women, UNFPA, and the non-governmental organization RENEW.
